Everyone eagerly awaited the x9000 eXtreme processors with their unlocked multipliers and ability to easily over clock through the BIOS. After getting the new system and jacking up the multiplier to 16x (the max available) we ran 3DMark06 anticipating a sizable jump in scores. When the results came in we could hardly believe it... a 2.6% improvement?!?

That's not anything, and it's certainly not Killer. So we went in the lab with a pen and a pad and went to work. There were MAJOR deficiencies in the factory design from start to finish. We developed our own BIOS and concentrated on delivering a real value added product once again. As we brain-stormed we came up with a list of things that we thought were either flaws or needed serious improvement.

  • Our competition only offers expensive eXtreme Penryn processors able to take advantage of the multiplier increases
  • Other processors with unlocked multipliers could not activate the hook in the BIOS to over clock
  • Increasing the multiplier with an eXtreme CPU, then switching to a regular CPU "black screened" the system
  • Changing the BIOS required long drawn out restarts leading to the system always being over clocked, even when it was detrimental
  • The multiplier could not be changed within Windows
  • Hibernated systems would crash if the multiplier was changed while hibernated
  • Performance in real-world aps did not significantly increase with their 2x multiplier system
  • Owners of previous models were "out-of-luck" even if they did have an eXtreme processor

  • Activate or de-active your settings from within Windows - NO reboot necessary
  • Turn your 2x multiplier performance off completely
  • Set your system up to be a frugal energy miser
  • Rocket past your competition with the neck-snapping Turbo force of the Boost Button!™

Every system is customized by the end user therefore different. Each system is extensively tested before it leaves Killer Notebooks. Before it leaves, a custom BIOS is created to work in conjunction with the hardware and software enhancements. Every Turbo Boost Button™is custom tailored to your machine for the best turbo performance... then locked with an exclusive serial number for your specific machine. No need to worry about messing something up if you want to tweak your user defined settings. The core voltages have already been maximized and the performance settings are hard coded into your system..

When we say, "increased performance" we mean a real increase, not 2.9%. Take a look at the cumulative bar chart below. The Boost Buttonworks in conjunction with your K|N optimized hardware and software to destroy your competition. There is one important thing to remember when looking at the performance improvement chart below... all tests were done on K|N built and modded systems, so even the factory 2x multiplier option benefits from K|N expertise over our competition's built at the factory "we never touch them" systems. The actual performance increase of the Boost Button™is in effect greater than the graph demonstrates.

Benchmarks

The stacked colum graph below demonstrates extensive testing done with the Intel eXtreme x9000 2.8 Ghz processor.
The red bars are the highest BIOS overclocking levels, which is 2x the stock multiplier, or 200 x (14 + 2) = 3.2 Ghz.
The green bars
are the exact same system without pre-setting the BIOS but instead using the K|N Turbo Boost Button

The length of the bars denote the amount of performance improvement over stock.
The stacked bars were used so you can quickly see not only how both systems performed over the stock processor settings, but also how they compared to each other.

Works with XP Pro and Vista 32/64 bit!!!

XP Pro 2x multiplier

This is XP Pro with the multiplier over 2x, or 3.2 Ghz processor speed... 9,942

Here's the same exact system using the Boost Button instead of the clock multiplier... 10,712

Here we see the results on 64 bit Vista.
