There are a lot of wireless options out there, and sometimes it can be confusing. The a/b/g/n wireless is the one Killer Notebooks recommends, and comes standard with. To actually get increased connectivity and bandwidth you need a special N class router. Most of the current routers today can connect at speeds up to 300 Mbos, they are well accepted and availability isn't a problem. Simple tends to work best.

Wireless cards with huge bandwidths are designed for network to network transfers... that means from say your desktop to your notebook. These are ideal for streaming music, videos, programs, data files etc. With RAID based systems, or systems w/o an optical drive, a "virtual drive" can be set up and ISO's actually streamed over the network to your virtual drive through your wireless card. The virtual drive shows up as an icon in your system and for all intents and purposes your system will look and act just as if it had an optical drive.

The other benefit is that Killer Notebooks employs 2 wireless antenna within the system, and good wireless cards can pick up signals at greater range with higher throughput. Wireless cards do not generally increase internet speeds! Internet connections are usually less than 10 Mbps even at their fastest, well within the capabilities of all the "g" cards. You may experience a slight increase in reaction time, less lag, and greater range, but internet improvements are not the main reason for upgrading your card.

108 Mbps b/g/G+ wireless card uses the Atheros chipset. This is the most reliable, versatile chipset we have found for actually working at 108 Mbps (throughput exceeds 64 MBps) The router we recommend and use is the D-Link DI-624 For a complete list of routers, and more information on this card check out the 108 Mbps  wireless cards main page. This isn't fancy, but it gets the job done, and done at 108 Mbps with easy set up and admin~ing. It is fully backwards compatible with existing b/g routers.

The 240 Mbps b/g/M wireless cards use the AIRGO MIMO chipset. This is the newest/fastest card you can get anywhere, but this card requires specialized MIMO routers to utilize the 240 Mbps speeds (throughput exceeds 100 Mbps). The card is 100% backwards compatible with existing b/g speed routers at 54 Mbps (testing currently underway for 108 speeds but it is doubtful it will be faster than 54 Mbps) . The router we recommend is the ASUS WL-566gM model for full 240 Mbps speeds. Success has also reported with the Linksys SRX400 connecting at 126 Mbps.

D-Linhk DIR-625

The D-Link DIR-625 is perfect for use with the 270 Mbps wireless cards. It not only offers high throughput and bandwidth, but connects seemlessly to PS3 and other wireless enabled devices. With exceptional security, ability to DMZ the firewall and assign IP addresses to appliances on your network, the DIR-625 gets a thumbs up for wireless routers that the average person can figure out.
